Dear Schiller Alumni,

Summer is already coming and it is time for a new Alumni newsletter giving you the latest about forthcoming reunions in summer as well as information about changes during the last few months.

For any ideas in developing our alumni Organization, the homepage, or plans for reunions, contact the Alumni office.
We're looking forward to hearing from you.

January saw the beginning of a new semester, the first one with the new monthly module course system at all Schiller campuses. In spite of some hasty concerns the system works well and offers our students a new flexibility in their studies - giving a time of intensive working and also the chance to take a month off for internships or recreation.

By March our Florida headquarter moved to a new, bright and modern building, located at the heart of Largo: 8560 Ulmerton Road, Largo FL 33771.
Finally, we had a lovely and impressive graduation ceremony in Heidelberg last week, presenting over 30 students of 12 different nationalities with their diplomas and special awards. The graduation speaker, Mr. Harald Leibrecht, a member of the German Bundestag, preceded the class valedictorian Andreas Hagen, who also attended the Florida campus. Some of this year's graduates have already joined our Alumni organization. Congratulations and welcome on board!
A get together or informal reunion of 1986-91 Heidelberg vintage will take place on Saturday, July 10th, 2010 (new date!) in Heidelberg. It will start off with a champagne reception and tour of the former Schiller villa at Friedrich Ebert Anlage 4, now housing the Collegium Palatinum, followed by dinner at a close-by restaurant and closing out the day with a drink at O'Reilley's, formerly the Alte Krone in Neuenheim.

Please contact Patty Kershaw for further information and acceptance.

Please forward this information to anyone that attended Schiller International University - Heidelberg or to any friends you met while studying here.
The reunion for Schiller College Alumni of Kleiningersheim and Bönnigheim is likely to take place on July 17th- 18th, 2010. Anyone who is interested please contact the Alumni office or Ute Gleich, our former Alumni Manager, who will coordinate visits to the Kleiningersheim Castle and the Bönnigheim Castle, now a museum of primitive arts.

See our homepage in a few weeks when the program is finalized and we know how many alumni will attend.
Cathy Eberhart, a Schiller veteran of long standing, has left Schiller in February.
After receiving her Bachelors from Antioch College, and Masters and PhD from Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, she joined the Schiller administration in 1982.
After the death of Schiller founder Dr. Walter Leibrecht she was appointed interim president, and later Provost of the University.
All students and colleagues, she has been working with over so many years, wish her success and happiness in the future and hope to remain in touch.

Bill O'Connor, Heidelberg Campus Bookstore Manager, retired in March.
Bill joined the staff in August 1990, while the Campus was located downtown in the "Villa", and has ordered English language textbooks from abroad, for generations of students.
When he wasn't dealing with book shipments or customs issues, he handled health insurance claims for those students covered by the German group plan.
After years in the Heidelberg fog, it was time to return "home" to the San Francisco Bay Area to be near children and grandchildren and the California sun. The Heidelberg administration, faculty, and students, all wish Bill a joyful homecoming.

With best regards, Andreas Heinemann
